Google Buzz, a Hit for Yahoo & Microsoft but a Joy for Gmail Users
Gmail has gone social integrating Google Buzz, the latest innovation of Google for Gmail users. Retaining the essence of social networking applications, Google Buzz is a real-time platform to share content, post links, display photos and exchange conversations. Google might have devised it intending to compete with its rivals Yahoo and Microsoft or to multiply the number of its Gmail users or to enhance the user experience of Gmail. Googl4e Buzz has earned its owner both applaud and flak.
The similarity of Google Buzz to Yahoo! Buzz has been a target of criticism among tech pros. Yahoo! Buzz has been in existence for quite some time. So, what the use of Google Buzz is is a scathing question from them to Google. Microsoft in a statement remarked, “Busy people don’t want another social network, what they want is the convenience of aggregation. We’ve done that. Hotmail customers have benefited from Microsoft working with Flickr, Facebook, Twitter and 75 other partners since 2008.”
With several social networking applications in use, why Google has launched its own is opined by many. There are more than 50 social networking applications and many online hangers do not use more than five or six of them, namely Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and FriendFeed. Google Buzz has been a challenge to Yahoo! Buzz because the latter has not been recently in publicity. Moreover, Yahoo! Buzz and Google Buzz have lots in common. Both allow users to share content in real time, connect with sites like Flickr and display updates publicly or privately.
Google Buzz and Yahoo! Updates are pretty akin to each other according many. The release of Google Buzz as another social sharing and networking application may be a hit for Yahoo and Microsoft. It is quite a reasonable reason for Gmail users to rejoice.
